I can’t figure out how to embed this thing (and much other content) without jacking the appearance of the rest of the site, so you’ll have to enjoy it via the link.

Revelations

February 29th, 2008

Just a few recent ones…

My prices need to be raised.

Having a budget is a beautiful thing, whether you’re married, single, or just plain rich.

I think the hand strap I ordered today is going to be wonderful.

I prefer 4 classes a semester to anything more — the spacing allows me to do my thang.

I love love love taking pictures.

I need some more photographer friends — both for assisting on jobs as 2nd’s and just because I can’t talk shop with every and anybody about this stuff.

My style is my style is my style, and the clients that love it will buy it even if they don’t recognize it.

Training and knowledge of a craft far exceed the opportunities found by advertising it or gear-whoreing equipment.

Everyday is a good day, whether we accept it or not. That’s just the nature of being alive.

You learn more about yourself looking in the mirror than you do looking at what everyone else is doing on your monitor.

Running a business is a beautiful thing, when you run it like it’s your business.

new material? music? newness?

What’s this guy doing? I’m certain only he knows. And I won’t presume to share, so just keep watching. I will say those Dexter’s Laboratory glasses (what do YOU know about those?) are fitting, though. And yes, this is the same image from the screenshot days before.

I think I’m tired of school again…

I think the preoccupation of eliminating debt and getting this business off the ground is recurring again.

The Writing Center, without the Writing Center

February 19th, 2008

I’ve been thinking about making a writing workshop of my own through this blog, possibly linked through a different category. Much like the camera work, the writing work must increase and improve if I am to be the communicative maven I aspire to be. So it is. Perhaps this endeavor will provide a nice counterweight to all of the things I must write for scholastic purposes.

If I could have a blog so dynamic…

It would probably have to jack some conventions from Panic’s website. If you didn’t know they make some stuff for the Mac. The one thing I appreciate in particular is Transmit. Nice reliable ftp program there, and it looks pretty too. But the site is dope — especially how they came up with a creative way for you to download the trials of the apps they offer.

aww man.

February 18th, 2008

I just looked at the date stamps on the blog. 11 days? It’s not good for me to allow that to happen. I think I was stalling because I kept seeing that message above the write post dialog exhorting me to update. But alas, ftp’ing i feeleth not. Whatever.

This blog needs to stay WAY more current. This is unacceptable.

Consider me putting myself on notice. (eventually we’ll figure out a way to actually hold me accountable, but until then, we’ll just uh, look to keep content coming).

it’s been a while…

School…

A bit more time then I’ve been planning to budget, but we’re making it work. In the meantime, here’s something I’ve done recently. As in earlier TODAY. As you can see I was fooling with it. Enjoy.

Budgeting time.

February 7th, 2008

As we come to the close of this the second week of our second semester in seminary, it appears that the budget is going to require some review and revamping with respect to the time commitment required. Let’s just say a bit more reading and a bit more writing is going on here. I don’t much like reviewing the good ol’ budget, but it’s necessary.

If above all, for sanity’s sake. Looks like “no” is going to be coming out the bag a bit more frequently.

It’s the photographer’s fault.

February 5th, 2008

I was thinking this morning about pictures and the common experience that so many people have as it pertains to getting them/taking them/having them etc., and I’ve come to conclusion that many of the sentiments that people have surrounding pictures has more to do with the photographers than the people. If we are historians and documenters of the past for future use, the onus is upon us to provide an experience that clients and end-users can cherish and enjoy, even to the point of enjoying the actual experience.
