Feeling a little on the slaggard side today.. think I caught some of that soon to be September hayfever. Anyways.. just a little bit on why I like Engadget so much.

Read it here.

I guess the title of this post should go here.

Weekend updates a bit later.

the beat goes on…

The changes just don’t stop. I find it interesting what I read on the Pictage forums concerning all these camera upgrades… they get the photogs to believe they need new cameras and get them to mortgage EVERYTHING in the relentless pursuit.

I’m falling back. We’ve ranted before, but we will get glass before a new body. We need to dice those credit cards. I’m looking forward to the days where what I want is paid in cash.

Read all about it here. And here. And here.

Once again it’s on!!

Apple Store again. Naturally. We had the good ol’ Treo 650 take a dive… seems when you made a call, that speakerphone icon didn’t want to appear, and it didn’t want to let me talk or listen either, and well, we know that’s not good. So we spend the time on the MBP fantasizing about the future while we wait the customary 30 minutes for a replacement. At no charge.

Guess they were actually working for me this time.

What I should’ve posted

For that Lighting 102 Assignment on Cooking. I think this one runs more like I would like it to.. I like the whole “out of the dark, creation came!!” look. But then again, … well I’m going to leave it there. This picture was fresher than the other one. So I switched which I labeled as “Final” accordingly too.

I resent that it takes the morning hour for me to come up with this stuff on my own volition… but then again, if you won’t sleep @ 3:00am, what will you do?

Them changes are coming soon enough.. I just submitted a commemorative book design to AsukaBook in time to meet their contest and of course have the product back in time for the commemorative delivery. Now on to the real fun.

And that page hasn’t been updated yet because I have yet to feel committed enough to the task. Perhaps we’ll see that coming… TODAY.

More later.

The Human Camera

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Thanks through Strobist and Chase Jarvis Blog.

Awesome. Only God can such things with life.

And I agree with Chase: That is a camera money cannot buy. But the Intelligent Designer, however, did successfully eke out one in production.

Changes coming…

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Update: Also be sure to check up for those changes to come on the James Watts site, if you know like I know, we’ve been waiting patient for a good minute. I’m certain it will be worth the wait.

By Wednesday, look for an updated portfolio, and possibly, some new material from Mr. Morrison.

Also, be on the look out for some of the usual suspects possibly featured in a Portrait push for services offered.

It’s time to run.

Yea man.. we fell into that deep sleep, that good delta wave sleep. So uh, 29 some-odd hours later (give or take for the sleep stops), we back in Jersey.

And I must say it’s good to be home.

Jameel however, drove about 25 of those 29 hours. So now we crash—

(This crash now brought to you by Full Throttle, a drink, Jameel doesn’t consume, but a drink that kept him through the morning drag nonetheless. Nothing like caffeination to aid in a brutal crash landing.)

—Hard.

More to come.

I will however, go on record stating that I’m certain that will be the last time I step into the foray of the long road trip once again. Next time we fly to Houston, we fly back from Houston, or wherever else we touch down. My boy had a nice spot down there though, some gated community work in the “good” section of town, high ceilings, central air, double vanity, walk in closet… the tub was trash elegant, but who am I to complain (yea, you shouldn’t have to lift your leg up 2.5 feet to get into and out of a tub—that is trash). But the most important thing is…

I’m back in Jersey. And it is good to be home.

The grind resumes Monday-ish

On the road again…

Or at least getting ready to be (departure @ 2:00am-ish).

I take it down now. Jersey, I’m coming.

See you soon.

Outsourcing anyone?

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

I was poking through one of the Pictage Partner Conference emails that I received recently, and I came across this company that offers the possibility of outsourcing one’s post production. Very interesting prospect, I suppose; I personally think I feel too attached to post processing (Jameel just needs to utilize the pull method of motivation a bit more for effectiveness), but if my packages were higher at this point, I don’t think I’d be above utilizing them to sleep a bit more in the midnight hour. Because I know about getting home at 11p.m. and editing till about 3:30a.m. in prep for getting those images uploaded Sunday Morning, sorted on Monday, and released by noon.

Gotta find a way to do it faster.

Just not sure if $300 is the route right now. Jameel needs wants more lenses/equipment (especially that Mark III all $4500 dollars worth—I need want/demand/require ISO 6400 in my life).

That means we find ways to make it work in the meantime. Although, I think I might like the idea of outsourcing album design for some reason.

I might have to milk those portraits for a hot second too. Time to start shopping that large umbrella and sturdier stand…

We’ll see.

Withdrawal…

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

I really would like to go out and shoot with my equipment right about now. Perhaps bag a larger umbrella and sturdier stand, and additional flash, and just work it out

Aw… MA-A-A-AN-AN-AN..

It just ain’t right. B&H’s website ain’t the same, when you can’t in the least touch what you already have for some form of peace.

We get on the road this morning. Pray the Lord bring us through this 27 hour hike from TX to NJ. It shall be good to be home. This Midwest place is alright, got the good food and good down home cooking, but it ain’t New Jersey.

And I like Jersey. So that’s what it is.

And one last addendum: The next time, we fly back too. The mere thought of this trip at this point hasn’t discouraged me, but I’m starting to digest this notion of being in a car for more than a 24 hour period.

I can feel the indigestion gurgling now.
